Signing up for classes... again

Every quarter I am required to sign up for classes. Every quarter I see what classes the college has to offer. And every quarter I love figuring out which "plan" would be best: Plan 1, Plan 2, Plan 3, or Plan 4. Haha, I like planning :)

For some people, planning is hard, because they don't like when God changes their plans. Thankfully for me, I am okay with God changing my plans. If He wants me doing something else, I'll do it. But planning is part of my nature.
SO, is there anything wrong with making plans? I don't think so- as long as you accept the fact that some doors will be closed/opened.

I was able to sign up the second day of registration at 3pm. Sadly, two of the biology classes, microbiology&260 and anatomy&241 (part 1), were full with a wait-list by the 1st day!! Crazy, huh? A lot of people really want these classes.

So, when 3 pm on Wednesday came along, I hopped onto the computer and started the registration process. I tried to get on the waiting list for both biologies (hoping I could get into one or the other), but the waiting- lists were FULL.

Oh my goodness.

I pray that I'll be able to do both of them at once next quarter. Not very fun, but I've got to do it.

Need less to say, I'm signed up for:
-Sociology&101 at 8am
-Communication&101 at 12pm
-two computer classes at 5:30pm on T and Th.
-an online class called Information Studies

*I'm also on a waiting-list for Chemistry&131 class too. Praying, praying, praying that I'll get in. When I signed up, I was the "4th" in line, but now I'm 2nd!! :D I'm moving up in line... :)
If I do get into the Chemistry class, I'll probably drop the Info class, because 19 credits is kinda pushing it...

These are the classes I must complete before applying for the 2 year dental hygiene program.
The seasons above the classes are optional-you don't necessarily need to do the classes in order.

Including the quarter I'm in now, I've completed:
English&103
Math&107
Psychology&100
Chemistry&121

English&101
Biology&160
Yoga :D

Time Flies!

Germany,

Florida,

then

Washington State

:)

This day (a year ago) I was on a airplane flying into the Tampa Bay airport in Florida with my family. We were moving to Washington from Germany, but we took a little detour to visit our extended family in the nice, warm and sunny state of FL. Only thing is, it wasn't very warm OR sunny Lol. I had brought short sleeve shirts and shorts... but I didn't use them all that much.
My baby cousin was born that day, so I got to hold a newborn for a lot of the time! *love* :)

Besides being inside, my 5, 7, and 9 year old boy cousins would convince me to play football with them. I felt like I was at football boot camp ;) No, actually I learned a lot AND had so much fun!!

While in Florida, we also went to Disney World :) I had a lot of fun, but I was ready to come back to my cousins, aunt and uncle. Oh! and my grandparents also came, so we had a mini family reunion :) Grandpa (68) and my youngest brother (8) celebrated their birthdays together. How awesome is that :)

After being in Florida for a about two weeks, we flew off to a mysterious new location. A place we would call "home" for the next few years. We stayed in the "hotel" on post for about a month. This was the month of March now, so we still had school. That's the nice thing about homeschooling... you can break/start whenever it is convenient. We came to Washington at the perfect time. It was the time when all the cherry blossom trees are blooming.

:D

So beautiful!

It's interesting... I was reading my journal a few days ago. Reading what I had written during the time we were moving.
I know God answers pray, so I would pray that:
1) we would find a great church.
2) I would find great new friends.

He answered those two prayers very quickly. :)

It's funny, my brother and I were talking about how much more we're involved here compared to what we were in Germany for the first 2 years.

You really have to trust God that he will prepare the way. Every time we move, it seems easier and easier to trust Him, because He DOES show Himself faithful :) And every time we move, I feel His blessings more and more.

Until next time.

Chocolate Truffles.

Oreo Truffles

My next-door-neighbor (best friends) in Germany (fyi: they aren't German) made the BEST Chocolate Oreo Truffles when I went over to their house one time. Need less to say, I've been hooked ever since.

:D

Oreo Truffles:
-1 package of Oreo (can be double stuff or not)
-1 package (8 oz) 1/3 less fat cream cheese
-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
-semisweet chocolate chips
-white chocolate chips

Chop up the Oreos (goes faster if you use a food processor). Add the room temperature cream cheese and vanilla. Mix well. Then make into balls and put in freezer for a little bit. In a double broiler, melt the semisweet chocolate chips. Then, dip the balls in. This works best with a spoon and your fingers (just don't burn your fingers, because the chocolate could be hot!) Let them cool/dry on wax paper. Drizzle white chocolate on top. I dyed the white chocolate pink because of Valentine's Day :)

Warning: They are SO addicting!
Eat with caution. May cause buttons to pop.
;)

Until next time.

When will summer come?

It's SUNNY! Woohoo :D

While we have 45 degree weather, the rest of the United States is experiencing snow storm after snow storm.

I shouldn't complain... BUT...

I MISS SUMMER.

The Puget Sound is so beautiful in the summer time :) Along with the whole state of Washington... (well, maybe not the dry east side).

Soaking up the sun

Doesn't that picture look like it should be in a REI magazine??

;)

Usually my brother and I bike down to the water, but I've done it with a couple of my friends too. It's only 3 or 4 miles each way. And boy, is it worth it! I can't wait to go biking outside without breathing in freezing O2.

Until next time.

I heart Valentine's Day

Even as a single gal, I love Valentine's Day SO much! It's probably my third most favorite holiday (Christmas and Easter being first and second). Thanksgiving and Valentine's are basically tied for third place... :)

It is such a sweet day!

My mom especially made this holiday the best for us as we grew up. She had us make sugar cookies in all different heart shapes and sizes with red and pink sprinkles. We would also (actually, we still do this) each make home make heart shaped cards for everyone in the family :) I love this tradition.

The back of my door has all the past red&pink cards from family members.

Making cards is such a wonderful way to show my love and appreciation to my mom, dad, and brothers.

I hate it when Valentine's Day comes around, and people feel pressured into finding a date/lover/valentine (whatever you want to call it). Why can't we just love the people that are ALREADY in their lives?

So, when Valentine's Day comes, share it with the people who are already in your heart.

Oh, and of course... don't forget all the chocolate... Dark chocolate: Godiva, Ghirardelli, Lindt, Hershey, Ritter Sport, and Ferrero Rocher.

God created heaven on earth when he let cocoa beans grow here!

Until next time.

Names

I love interesting names.

Names that sound pretty or names that are cute :) My wonderful parents actually made my name up: Rosala. They liked the 'rose' part, and a grandmother from both sides of the family had a rose- name. One was Rosalin and the other was Rosaleah. (I'm not so sure about the spellings).

So, they just called me Rosala. I love it. I like being unique. I'm not just another... what's a common name? Sarah? Not that Sarah isn't a nice name, it's just that I like variations. Names that you don't come across everyday.

Here are some other names that I have a likin' for:

Girls:
Avigail- (Variation of Abigail: father's joy)
Nevaeh- (Heaven spelled backwards. Only problem is that that name IS becoming quite popular.)
Felicity- (English: happiness)
Vera- (Russian: faith)
Lydia- (Germanic: of the noble sort)
Genesis- (Greek: Beginning, birth)
Emmalyn- (Emma- German: all-containing, universal. Lyn- English: near a lake/pond)
Lyric- (English: lyric)
Thea- (Greek: gift of god)
Willow- (English: willow)
Adeline- (Germanic: noble)
Constance- (Latin: steadfast)
Maisy- (English: pearl)

Boys:
Lincoln- (English: lake settlement/colony)
Truman- (English: faithful man)
Silas- (Latin: of the forest)
Joel- (Hebrew: the Lord is God)
Levi- (Hebrew: combined/joined in harmony)
Matthias- (Hebrew: gift of God)
Liam- (Germanic: will, desire)
Shiloh- (Hebrew: peaceful, tranquil)

Until next time.

p.s. My dad actually wanted to name me Sarah ;)

Haha

Thankyou Jesus.

This past weekend was quite eventful, a little... ok maybe a lot... :) It was stressful, exciting, busy and amazing :D

My Friday started out with biology at eight in the blessed AM! My profesor talked about what would be on the test that Monday. Yes, Monday... for some reason he likes giving tests on Mondays... yippie! :\ Then I had my very simple waste-of-time kind of class: Math in Society. I'm glad it's easy though... Only problem is, it gets a little tiring after awhile, because I have that class every. single. day.

We've kind of made this tradition of driving to the local frozen yogurt with my brother and some friends on Fridays after classes.

It's a nice break, and a good start to the weekend. :)
The place is so cozy and relaxing, and the frozen yogurt is sososo good! (LOVE) They change the flavors every week, so this time I got peanut butter. Ohmygoodness! It is the best thing ever! :D

Anyways, we got home and I tried to finish my 5 page essay (due Monday) for my english class....

SO, if you haven't been paying attention, I have a Biology exam to study for AND a wonderful paper to write :P Shall be an interesting weekend...

no fun for me... no siree. But then again, it might just be an awesome weekend!

Okay, on to Saturday, my friend and I volunteered to watch kinder at my church for a marriage conference. So, she picked me up, and we watched kids from ages about 8 months to 4-year-olds for the whole morning (including lunch). I ended up getting home at around 1:30ish.

This gave me just enough time to run around the house getting certain things ready for the JROTC Navy Ball!
I drove over to some friends of mine to get ready :D Their wonderful aunt was there to do hair and makeup. She was awesome!

I got to sit at the head table with Josh, Rachel, Nate, Tim, and some other people. :) The ROTC people did a great job and I had so much fun!

At the end of the ceremony, they had dancing :) It was a blast, but Rachel and I couldn't get Josh or Nate to join in. Such party poopers ;) It's alright, we finished dancing and played cards (the 4 of us) because the music was SUPER DUPER LOUD!! And THEN, we went to Applebee's until 12:15 in the morning. Craziness!

:)

Here's some pictures from that night...

All the guys lookin' so spiffy.

Fun night... fun night...

The next morning was Sunday! Thankfully I was able to sleep in a bit. :) Unfortunately for Nate and Josh... they had to get up nice and early to practice/set up for youth worship.

I hadn't really studied at all for biology this weekend, so I was definitely starting to stress and freak out. :\ I got to church a little early (not much though). But enough to experience God's goodness to me. While the worship group was still practicing, I flipped open my Bible to a random spot. Well, before I tell the story, let me say that I usually underline significant verses and read them again if I flip to a page with unlined text. So I randomly flipped to Matthew 6. And then I read the verse:

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34

At first I thought, oh great! I don't have to study... ;) haha
And then I thought, Oh great... what kind of trouble does today hold.
I was confused. Am I suppose to study? Or what?

And then I read another underlined verse. It said:

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Matthew 6:25-27

God tells us not to worry.
So maybe I should study BUT not worry :) Yay! I figured it out!

Just for the record, God showed himself through.
I did study some.
And I did get an amazing grade.

Before handing out the test scores, my teacher said something along the lines of, "Over all, you guys did pretty well. One person got a 100%, and quite a few of you got mid/upper 90s, and no one got 20 or 30%. That makes teachers really happy." So then he laid the scantrons on the table in the front of the class for us to get. I found mine, and honestly I didn't know how to read it... how embarrassing. I hadn't taken a scantron test before so I was trying to figure it out. Someone looked over my shoulder and said, "You got a 100%!" I looked in shock. There it was in red: 50/100% meaning 50 questions right, therefore 100 percent. :) I had to ask my teacher... was there really only ONE person that got 100. He said "yep." I was like.. "umm well... that was me!" :) He said "great job!" and gave me a high five :D

The rest of the day, I was walking on air ;)

Thankyou Jesus!

Until next time.
