pacific aviation museum

the pacific aviation museum had an event for memorial's day weekend.  it was really sweet. eight veterans (and their wives) from the pacific part of wwII were there to socialize, eat light snacks and watch a film called honor flight. a boy scout troop my brothers happen to be in was there to welcome everyone. i'm not much of a crier during films; i didn't cry while watching toy story 3 or up or even les miserables, but this movie had me bawling. it was so moving and inspirational. if you ever have the chance to watch it, please do! and make sure you have a box of tissues with you. it was a documentary about raising money to let wwII veterans travel to washington dc so they'll be able to view the monument that was made for them. after the documentary, everyone walked out of the theater to the u.s. marine band playing star spangled banner (and then other patriotic songs). cake and punch finished the night. i'm so thankful for these men who fought for our freedom, all the men and woman who have fought since then, and the ones who will fight in the future. remember their sacrifices.
